We’re a local, family-run furniture store in Napoleon, Ohio, created to bring back what furniture shopping should feel like: no pressure, no waiting, and honest-to-goodness help from people who actually know furniture.
Our History
Our roots in Northwest Ohio go way back.
For 32+ years, our family owned George's Furniture right here in Napoleon—serving great people all across Northwest Ohio. And then something happened...
We saw a wave of change coming in the furniture industry—and we didn't like it.
So we made a move that didn't make sense to a lot of people at the time: we closed George's Furniture. But it was the right move.
Not long after, my new business partner and buddy, Brian, and I started Sofa Express. Why? Because we got fed up with what furniture shopping was turning into:
We knew Northwest Ohio deserved better. So we built it.
Our building has a little local history of its own.
Back in the 50s and early 60s, it was a hoppin’ night club called The Metropole. We still have the old bar, and there’s a cash register from the 70s that now lives on as our classic candy machine.
And yes—this place has good vibes. Always has.
We also share our building with Mattress Works — Ohio’s Smallest Mattress Store(also owned by Chris Chamberlin). So whether you’re upgrading your living room or your sleep, you’re in the right spot.
